Godswill Akpabio, president of the senate, has urged on legislators to work with renewed patriotism and dedication to nationhood in order to help Nigeria overcome obstacles such as insecurity, poverty, calls for good governance, and other problems that impact Nigerians.

The Senate President underlined the need of maintaining harmony, working together, and maintaining a solid commitment to meeting the difficulties in his remarks to his colleagues on Tuesday as the plenary resumed after the lengthy annual break.

At the same time, Akpabio announced that the MPs will discuss legislation, deal with urgent concerns, and work to achieve consensus so that the country could go swiftly.

“It is imperative that we put aside personal differences and work together with renewed patriotism and dedication to nationhood in light of rising poverty, insecurity, and public agitation for good governance,” he continued.

“The challenges we face demand unity, cooperation, and steadfast commitment to addressing the problems that affect the lives of all Nigerian citizens, mindful of the seriousness of our obligations and the fact that our choices have a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of countless Nigerian citizens,” the statement reads.

Further urging the parliamentarians to remain steadfast in their will to overcome the obstacles limiting the nation’s progress and prosperity in recent years, the Senate President.

Be mindful that our constituents look to us for leadership and hope, and we must not falter in fulfilling our obligations to them, he urged. He continued, “I encourage us all to put the interests of our great nation first, by upholding the principles of democracy in all engagements, processes, and procedures and working diligently towards a more secure, prosperous, and united Nigeria.”

With the support of the parliamentarians, Akpabio argued, Nigeria’s problems could be solved and improvement was possible.

“I am confident that your commitment, knowledge, and integrity will show through in all of your activities.

The Senate President stated, “Evidently, as with all democratic institutions, there are concerns at different levels of governance. While dissent and differing opinions are integral to our democratic process, I urge us all to focus on the greater good of our nation, anchored on the pursuit of our common good, interests of our constituents, and protection of our fledgling democracy.

However, he urged the senators to have frank and productive discussions, work together, and act in unison about all issues of national importance since “it is through such discourse that we can achieve the best outcomes for all Nigerian citizens.”

Remember that, even though our viewpoints may differ, our shared goal is to enhance the welfare of our citizens and our country as you carry out your official legislative obligations.
