Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, has finally responded to accusations that his recent breakdown at his birthday function was the cause of it.
Speaking to reporters on Friday at the Senate, Akpabio suggested that fatigue and malaria may have contributed to the purported collapse.
He disclosed that during the December 7th colloquium in Abuja, he had received a diagnosis of malaria.
Additionally, he minimised the occurrence, calling it a “show of humanity” and blaming it on exhaustion exacerbated by the stress of the situation.
“What ultimately occurred following the incident was an act of humanity,” he stated. When I got home and called my doctors, I was told that I had malaria mixed with stress, which is another word for weariness.
In actuality, anyone could feel worn out. Please remember to drink water every day to avoid being fatigued.
In other words, the job is ongoing. I want the people of Nigeria to know that the National Assembly is still in place and that we are continuing to fulfil our obligation to appropriate.
“We’ll pick up again on December 20th.” However, in order for us to reach our goal of passing the budget before the end of the year, the various committees must have completed their work before the president can sign off.
The Senate is still in session and on track to approve the national budget before the end of the year, Akpabio reassured Nigerians. He stated that committees must complete their job by the deadline and that legislative activity will resume on December 20.
