The Ondo State Executive Council voted to support Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Thursday, promising to back him in his efforts to further the state’s development.
The cabinet members’ decision was made in the midst of Akeredolu and Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s protracted political rivalry.
The governor’s excellent leadership, which they claimed had benefited the people and the state as a whole, was the deciding factor in the executive members’ choice to camp out with him, according to a communiqué signed by 33 state cabinet members.
The communiqué, accessed by The Guardian, bore the signatures of Oladunni Odu, Secretary to the State Government (SSG); Olugbenga Ale, Chief of Staff to the Governor; Kayode Ogundele, Head of Service; sixteen commissioners; and twelve Special Advisers.
Nevertheless, the communiqué was not signed by Akinwumi Sowore, the commissioner of commerce, industry, and cooperative affairs, or Razaq Obe, the commissioner of energy, mines, and mineral resources.
Moreover, Aiyedatiwa, who had been fighting his impeachment, was not included among the cabinet members present at the meeting.
“In fulfilment of our dedicated responsibilities to advance the programmes and policies of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration, encapsulated in the Redeemed agenda, aimed at enhancing the lives of the people and fostering development across the state, we proudly commend the people’s governor for the unprecedented progress under his leadership,” part of the communiqué titled “We Stand by Our Courageous Principal and Mentor” says.
“We have learned the values of integrity, devotion, and good administration from the best—Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON—as members of the State Executive Council. We are always encouraged and inspired to perform our jobs by the governor’s bravery and excellent leadership.

We in Ondo State are benefiting from the governor’s bravery right now. The governor’s perseverance led to the creation of the Amotekun Corps, a lauded innovation in the state’s and the South-West’s overall security architecture.
