Lucky Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, will continue to serve as governor till Akeredolu’s return, according to him.

The State House of Assembly has received a letter from Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, extending his absence for medical reasons.

This notice was given to him after his doctors urged him to get enough rest after recovering.

Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, who received the letter on behalf of other legislators, stated that Akeredolu’s action was in accordance with Section 190 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution (as amended).

The letter stated that Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Akeredolu’s deputy, would serve as governor up until a formal pronouncement to the contrary is made.

Akeredolu informed the House of his choice to go on medical leave in a letter dated June 5, 2023, and he was scheduled to return on July 6, 2023.
