Akeredolu signs bill into law establishing 33 LCDAs
A measure that establishes 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state of Ondo received the approval of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The bill, which had already been approved by the state House of Assembly, now has the authorization from the law needed to create the LCDAs.
Oladiji Olamide, Speaker of the House of Assembly, delivered the measure to Akeredolu for approval.
The creation of the LCDAs is a key step towards achieving the desires of the people for greater grassroots development, according to Richard Olatunde, the governor’s chief press secretary, who confirmed the development in a statement over the weekend.
The introduction of the LCDAs will bring governance closer to the people, the state claims, and the governor has demonstrated an unrelenting commitment to strengthening public service delivery.
As he prepares to step up his efforts to further the development of the Sunshine State, Governor Akeredolu is still committed to delivering significant projects and cutting-edge ideas.
In the meantime, claims of marginalisation made by specific communities had led to disturbances within the state following the foundation of the LCDAs.
Additionally, some communities alleged that under the pretence of constructing LCDAs, the state was transferring town and village lands to various local councils.
