AIT Loses Two Journalists
Both Perry Tukuwei, the current presenter, and Jika Attoh, the first Kakaaki presenter, have left African Independent Television (AIT).
This was revealed in a statement released by the Abuja-based Daar Communication Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
The text says as follows: “The death of Jika Attoh, a former employee of DAAR communications, on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, has shocked the executives and all members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ DAAR Chairman, Patrick Abulu, on behalf of the entire membership and staff.

“The Board and Management of DAAR Communications Plc, as well as the family of the late Jika Attoh, receive condolences from the NUJ DAAR chairman.
“Jika Attoh was the first co-presenter of kakaaki when the show was rebranded in the late 1990s. She passed away in Enugu, South East Nigeria.To put it mildly, he was an M.C., a teacher of broadcast journalism, and a mentor.
The statement was also utilised by the NUJ DAAR to express their sorrow at the unexpected and sad passing of Perry Tukuwei, a broadcast journalist and presenter on Kakaaki who was youthful, lively, and full of life. Perry passed away on Wednesday, October 25, in a terrible boat accident in Yenagoa.
The newspaper management, the board, Tukuwei’s young family, and the kakaaki production staff are all mourned by the union.
