AVM Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, disclosed on Monday in Abuja that airstrikes were carried out on a location Northwest of Arina Woje in Tumbuns on Sunday based on intelligence reports received.
The intelligence report highlighted the presence of terrorists’ hideouts at the specified location, prompting the necessary action to be taken by the Air Component.
Additionally, the report confirmed an increase in terrorist activities around clusters of structures hidden under trees near the location, further justifying the airstrikes conducted by the military.
Following the post-strike Battle Damage Assessment, it was revealed that numerous terrorists were eliminated and their hideouts destroyed, significantly reducing their ability to launch attacks on surface forces.
AVM Edward Gabkwet emphasized that these airstrikes have not only neutralized terrorist threats in the region but have also diminished the capabilities of terrorist elements to target innocent civilians residing near Arina Woje in Borno, thereby enhancing the security situation in the area.
