President Muhammadu Buhari has landed in Katsina State and will now travel to his hometown of Daura to take part in the presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday.

At precisely 4:40 pm, Buhari’s plane touched down at the Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua Airport in Katsina.

Later on Saturday, he’s anticipated to cast his ballot in Daura for his top picks.

On Thursday, before departing Abuja for Katsina, Buhari called a meeting of the Security Council, where he met with the heads of the security services to inform them of the importance of protecting voters and making sure the elections go off without a hitch.

In Abuja, Buhari also met with Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and he urged him to make sure the elections are free, fair, and credible.

Also, he was present when a peace agreement was signed on Wednesday at the International Convention Center Abuja by candidates running for president in 2023.

All of the candidates running in the elections were urged by Buhari to accept the results as the people’s decision during the ceremony.

Buhari, who is spending his final term as president, has stated numerous times that he will leave behind an election process that will be regarded as credible and transparent.

The Election Act Amendment Bill was enacted into law by the President in February 2022.

After defeating his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan in a hotly contested election, Buhari was elected president in 2015.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), and a split off group of the All Progressives Grand Alliance merged to form the All Progressive Congress (APC), which he rode to power on (APGA).

On May 29, 2023, Buhari is anticipated to surrender the reins of power to his replacement.
