Ahead of the November 11 governors’ races in the states of Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEEC), has asked commission officers to uphold integrity and stay impartial.

When Yakubu went to visit several INEC offices to check on the state of affairs about the off-cycle elections, he stated this.

The bulletin from the Commission revealed this.

According to Yakubu, INEC is dedicated to holding legitimate elections in the three states.

“INEC is not a political party and is not fielding a candidate for governor on November 11th.”

“We will only make sure that the people of Imo and Bayelsa States select the governors they desire, and it is our duty to uphold their decision,” stated Yakubu.

In order to facilitate a seamless election process, Yakubu further urged the three states’ Electoral Officers (Eos) to make sure that every Registration Area Centre (RAC) was fully operational before the deadline.

He declared that the Commission was committed to making sure poll workers fulfil their duties on election day.
