Again, FG sets new deadline of November for the completion of the Lagos-Ibadan highway
He asserts that President Tinubu’s initiative will lead to the project’s completion.
The Lagos-Ibadan Motorway will be completed by November, according to the Federal Government, which announced the news on Friday, years after the major route’s renovation got under way.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, described money as a key issue facing the project during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He promised that his ministry will approach President Bola Tinubu for help.
In response to the question of when the federal road will be finished, Umahi remarked, “Let’s give it November.” We might face some budget difficulties, but I intend to talk to the President about them, he continued.
The PIDF programme, which stands for the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund, provided the funds. We currently have a balance of N18 billion to settle on that axis. The strict requirement is that you cannot use money intended for one project to complete another.

The Federal Government is considering employing concrete for the development of important highways around the nation, Umahi had emphasised the significance of concrete roads.
He said that bitumen imports are exerting increasing pressure on the naira. Umahi insisted that many concrete-built roads have a lifespan of 50 years.
Umahi pointed out that one of the original proponents of concrete roads is President Tinubu, who presided over Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.
“Concrete roads are nothing new to Mr. President. He was one of the primary supporters of concrete roads while governor, the speaker continued.
He did (and still does) comprehend the need for concrete in areas with a very high water table and frequent, continuous rain. The rain plays well with concrete. He built quite a few concrete roads as a result.
You can observe interlocking, another feature of concrete roadways, if you visit Victoria Island in Lagos. If someone behaves badly, you just take them out, clean them up, and fill them with sharp sand. I should mention that was Tinubu’s idea.
