Ahmed Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, has promised to take all legal measures to apprehend and bring charges against the gunmen who killed two students at the state university.
When the students campaigned and cast their votes for him during the election, he said he had hoped they were still alive to share in his win at the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
In response to the petition contesting his election being dismissed, Ododo stated that the people of Kogi are still in mourning over the deaths of the two Kogi State University students who were abducted and killed by gunmen.

They had voted for me in the election, and I had hoped they were still with us to celebrate his win.
“The horrific killing of our university’s defenceless students by the ruthless gunman still hurts me. Regardless of where they are, I have faith that the long arm of the law will soon find them.
“Let me take this opportunity to assure Nigerians that those responsible for the horrible atrocity will not escape punishment. He declared, “I promise that the students’ killers will be apprehended and charged with murder as quickly as possible.
The governor continued, saying that now that the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) nominee for governor, Murtala Ajaka, had had his appeal against his election dismissed, it was time to get serious about the state’s development.
He urged Ajaka and other opposition lawmakers to work with him to advance the state.
He informed reporters in Abuja that the people of Kogi State, who cast a resounding vote for him in the off-cycle election that took place on November 11, 2023, are the reason he won at the Tribunal.
He applauded President Bola Tinubu for keeping his distance from the judiciary, which he claimed was the final bastion of hope left for the average person.
The governor declared that he will work even harder to ensure that Kogi State’s citizens benefit from democracy following his victory at the Tribunal.
