Sheikh Tukur Sani Jangeme, the Chief Imam of the Gusau GRA Jumuat Mosque, has left the state after resigning from his post.
Following a video footage that went viral in which he was seen criticising Governor Dauda Lawal and applauding his predecessor, Bello Matawale, Sheikh Jangeme resigned from his role as Chief Imam last Friday.
Speaking about his resignation, he said he fled the state to ensure his safety and to ease the stress that his remarks in the video footage had created.
“I’m not in Zamfara State right now,” he declared. I made the decision to leave the state in order to ensure my safety and to let the situation to resolve itself.
“I chose to resign from my role as Chief Imam and leave the state because, as you are aware, some people are not happy with what I said in that video clip.”
