Thursday night’s 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey was characterised as “weird” by Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid.
Both teams were split apart by Eder Militao’s own goal in the first half, giving Xavi’s team a small lead heading into the Nou Camp leg of their semi-final.
As the Catalans displayed a “weird” defensive strategy against their hosts, Ancelloti’s team failed to record a shot on goal at the Bernabeu.
Because Barcelona declined to play the offensive football for which they are known, Ancelotti believes that Barcelona did not deserve to win the game.
“It’s been a bit odd to see them [Barcelona] play like this,” Ancelotti said of Barcelona following Madrid’s defeat.
Ancelotti responded, “No, it’s fairly evident. I don’t think our rivals deserved to win.
Hardly no occasions have arisen. The defensive performance was among our best of the season, I believe.
