Tinubu expressed his gratitude towards the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, and the FCT Administration for successfully finishing the official residence of the Vice President during his first year in office.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking on his behalf, expressed his happiness at the completion of the project, emphasizing that it signifies the respect that the President has for the Vice President’s office and his commitment to providing the necessary resources for effective governance.
Shettima also commended the FCT Minister for his dedication to his duties, highlighting him as a model public servant.
“The role of the Vice President is one of the most criticized and sensitive positions, but I must acknowledge the respect and inclusivity shown to me by Mr. President Tinubu. This administration is different from the past in terms of how Vice Presidents are treated,” Shettima remarked.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike revealed that the construction of the VP’s official residence began in 2010, was abandoned in 2015, but was later revisited by Tinubu’s administration in January 2024, with the cost increasing to 21 billion dollars. Today, the project is completed with top-notch facilities.
Wike stressed the importance of a conducive environment for productivity, and with the support of the President, the FCT Administration allocated the necessary resources to finalize the project.
“When we took over on August 21st, the area was overgrown with bushes. I approached the President and questioned how we could allow the Vice President’s residence to deteriorate to such a state,” Wike stated.
