Nigerian boxers showcased their dominance at the African Games in Accra, securing a total of eight gold medals in various weight categories. Joy Ojo, Dele Omole, Patricia Mbata, Olaitan Olaore, Cynthia Ogunsemilore, Blessing Oraekwe, Jacinta Umunnakwe, and Ifeanyi Onyekwere emerged victorious in their respective events, contributing to Nigeria’s success in boxing at the tournament.

The Bukom Boxing Arena was witness to Nigeria’s exceptional performance, with each boxer displaying skill and determination to clinch the gold. From the women’s 57kg category to the men’s 92kg+ event, Nigerian boxers triumphed over their opponents, showcasing the country’s prowess in the sport on a memorable night in Accra.

In addition to the boxing success, Nigeria continued to excel in athletics, with the women’s 4x400m relay team and javelin thrower Prosper Chinecherem Nnamdi adding to the country’s medal tally. The quartet of Esther Elo Joseph, Patience Okon-George, Brittany Ogunmokun, and Omolara Omotosho-Ogunmakinju secured gold in the relay, while Nnamdi set a national record in the javelin event, marking a significant achievement for Nigerian athletics.
