Finidi George, the head coach of Enyimba, attributed his team’s loss against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco to their inability to capitalise on their opportunities.

The African Football League, AFP, quarterfinal match between the Nigerian champions and Adil Ramzi’s team ended in a 1-0 loss for Ramzi’s team on Sunday.

Both teams were divided by Yayha Jabrane’s penalty in the first half of the game.

For the People’s Elephant, Chijioke Mbaoma, Ekenne Awazie, and Daniel Daga all lost opportunities.

Finidi, however, thinks that his team still has a chance to get to the semifinals.

Football is all about scoring goals, thus the outcome would have been different if we had done so, Finidi remarked on Brila FM.

We will have the return leg in a few days. Even though we wanted to win, I’m glad that we only lost by a single goal since it offers us another chance to travel there and try to win.

If we have the same opportunities as we did today, and we can take one or two of them, the game will be quite different.

“It’s unfortunate that we lost the first leg, but I’m quite optimistic about the second leg.”

This weekend, the two teams will square off at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca for the rematch.
