President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the pan-Yoruba sociocultural and political organisation Afenifere to immediately ease the suffering of Nigerians brought on by the removal of gasoline subsidies.

In a statement released on Thursday by the organization’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, the leader of Afenifere Worldwide, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his win at the Presidential Electoral Petitions Tribunal.

According to him, the ruling, which confirmed the electoral victory of February 25th, should be viewed not only as a sign of the country’s growing democracy but also as a challenge to the current administration to carry out the various commitments made in the Renewed Hope manifesto, which was distributed to Nigerians in the years 2022 and 2023.

The elder statesman further urged all parties to prepare for proper governance so that Nigerians could quickly move past their current hardship and start to experience higher standards of welfare as the nation started on a rapid path to becoming a developed country.

When Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was named the winner of this year’s presidential election, Fasoranti wrote: “As I said in my congratulations message, your victory generates a lot of optimism, and you cannot afford to let Nigerians down.

As I stated to you on the two occasions you visited me in Akure last year, “incidentally, your manifesto on how to reset Nigeria resonates with my vision for establishing a Nigeria of which we all would be proud. Considering the actions you have already made, I think you are putting the nation on a solid path for development.

“The rejigging to be effected should form important aspects of restructuring and proper federalization of the country.”

Fasoranti praised all parties participating in the petitions, saying that their decision to file legal proceedings was a step towards advancing democracy in Nigeria.

“For instance, the petitions afforded the judiciary the chance to make broad rulings on several crucial elements of our electoral law and Constitutional provisions that deal with election-related issues, he continued.

“The eminent judges’ rulings further illuminate and enlighten us on how to conduct our electoral processes.”

The senior statesman continued by saying that lawmakers should draw many conclusions from the decision in order to be better advised in their upcoming election efforts.

He commended Nigerians, the court, and everyone engaged in the legal system for the case’s peaceful resolution.
