AFCON Qualifiers: Lookman Replaces Osimhen in Nigeria’s Squad (See Full List)
With Victor Osimhen unavailable, Nigeria has called up Ademola Lookman for the AFCON qualifiers. See the full squad list and how the team is shaping up for the tournament.
Victor Osimhen has been excluded from Nigeria’s squad for the two-leg 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.
In the list published on Saturday, Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen excluded Osimhen because of injury concerns but included the in-form Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman in the 23-man squad.
The list includes familiar names such as captain William Ekong, winger Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, Stanley Nwabali, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Boniface and others.
Defender Bright Osayi-Samuel rejoins the team after being absent for September’s AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Midfield strategist Chidera Ejuke is making a comeback after a lengthy absence.
Nigeria will face off against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights in a two-legged encounter.

The three-time AFCON champions are set to face Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11th. Following this match, they will travel to Benghazi for a game against the Knights at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium on Tuesday, October 15th.
All invited players should arrive at the camp in Uyo on Monday, October 7th.
