John Mikel Obi, a former captain of the Super Eagles, has commented on the team’s prospects for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON.
Mikel was a member of the Super Eagles team that, during the 2013 tournament, which was hosted by South Africa, defeated all other teams in the continent.
In Cote d’Ivoire, Jose Peseiro’s team intends to win a fourth AFCON championship.

Mikel has now made a comparison between the current team and the one that won the competition in 2013.
“Isn’t there a significant difference? Dogmatically, football has altered significantly since ten years ago. According to Mikel, the current collection of players is a fairly young team, as he stated to CAF’s media.
“They play a completely different style of football, so hopefully the Nigerian team can put on a strong showing.”
In Group C, the Super Eagles will play Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, and the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire.
