Ahead of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, Benin Republic’s Steve Mounie expresses confidence in his team’s ability to secure another victory against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
According to OBASANJONEWS, Steve Mounie, the captain of Benin Republic, has issued a stern warning to the Super Eagles in anticipation of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
The prominent forward will guide his team as they face their West African counterparts at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Thursday evening, aiming to replicate their 2-1 victory from June.
Mounie emphasized the importance of his team delivering a strong performance in the contest.
“I recall telling them in June about my experience with my former club. While at Stade Brest, we managed to hold our own against major teams in the French championship,” Mounie stated during a press conference.
I told them that we could perform similarly against Nigeria. We have the ability to stand our ground and face them confidently. That’s what we’ll need to do tomorrow—actively participate in this match rather than just observe.
The game is scheduled to start at 8 PM Nigerian time.
