Among the teams that have already secured their spot in the competition’s Round of 16 is the Super Eagles.
After defeating the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau 1-0 on Monday, Jose Peseiro’s team accomplished the feat.
In Group A, they came in second place, just behind Equatorial Guinea.
Ndidi was included in Nigeria’s team for the AFCON 2023 championship, but because of an injury, Alhassan Yusuf took Ndidi’s position.
The top player for Leicester City, who was sad to miss out on the opportunity to represent his country in Cote d’Ivoire, supported his teammates to win the competition.
Ndidi told Sky Sports, “I’m really happy for the team because even from last year, this is what we have been planning to go for the AFCON. It was really bad for me not to be there.”
“Just make every effort to advance to the final. We intended to win games in order to advance to the following round.
On Saturday, the Super Eagles will play their longtime rivals, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, in the Round of 16.
