Alex Iwobi wants to win the African Cup of Nations, or AFCON, in order to follow in the footsteps of his uncle, Austin Jay Jay Okocha.

Okocha competed for the Super Eagles, who won the 1994 AFCON in Tunisia.

Iwobi nearly achieved the same feat as the former midfielder five years ago in Egypt when the Super Eagles advanced to the semifinals before losing to Algeria, the eventual winners.

The Fulham player is eager to get his hands on a trophy because the Super Eagles are scheduled to play again in Cote d’Ivoire in 2023.

“I want to win one for myself, too. I know my uncle has won it,” the former Everton star said to BeIN Sports.

“I want to brag to him too, because obviously we have the quality to do that, and hopefully we can do that.”
