Some have attacked the Portuguese for excluding notable figures such as Terem Moffi and Kelechi Nwakali.
Some people are not happy with the coach’s choice to start vice captain William Troost-EKong and captain Ahmed Musa as well.
Nonetheless, Okpala, a former Super Eagles assistant coach, has endorsed Peseiro’s choice.
“I dislike criticising a coach’s player selecting process. He has the right to choose who he wants to include and exclude, Okpala stated on Brila FM.
Since each player is unique, he must choose according to his playing style, strategy, and preferred formation.
And you know, he has to choose the player in that manner. For this reason, I find it difficult to criticise the coaches’ selections, whether they were made or not. I therefore just let the coach handle it.
