AEDC staff and 5 others arrested for vandalizing transformers
Six suspects have been apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police Command for their alleged involvement in vandalizing and stealing a transformer at Tipper Garage in the Mpape area of Abuja.
Among the arrested individuals is Raymond Mailabari, an employee of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
The remaining five suspects have been identified as Kabiru Muhammed, Aliyu Usman, Abdulmalik Alhasassan, Shafi’u Suleiman, and Suleiman Ibrahim.

Acting on credible intelligence, the police operatives conducted the arrest on Thursday.
The suspects were caught attempting to flee with the already vandalized transformer, which they had loaded onto a crane truck in Maitama.
The police swiftly intervened and seized the vandalized transformer, along with a crane truck, a blue-colored Mercedes Benz with registration number PKN 497 XA, a white-colored J5 bus with registration number RBC 228 XC, and an ash-colored Peugeot 406 car with registration number GSN 13 AA, which belonged to the AEDC staff member.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, has reiterated his commitment to safeguarding lives and property within the territory.
