Comrade Deji Adeyanju, an activist and the leader of the Concerned Nigerians group, has urged Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), to use some of the N6.5 billion in election funds that have been raised for him to help ailing veteran Nollywood actor John Ikechukwu Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu.

Additionally, he urged President Bola Tinubu to assist the Nollywood star in resolving his current situation.

Apparently, Mr. Ibu publicly appealed for Nigerians’ help on Wednesday, claiming that he was in danger of having his legs amputated due to a mysterious illness that had kept him bedridden for weeks.

Deji Adeyanju, however, urged President Tinubu, Peter Obi, and other Nigerians to donate whatever amount to help preserve the life of the comedic actor in a video message that was posted later on Wednesday.

“Hello everyone, this is a call to action for all Nigerians to please provide a hand to Mr. Ibu, who is presently ill. It makes no difference how much you can offer. Let’s aid him.

“I also want to make a request to President Tinubu that he kindly reach out to him and his family and assist them. I also want to request that Peter Obi, who received a lot of fervent support during the last election, kindly support him.

“People don’t suddenly start saying, ‘Oh Mr. Ibu was a good man,’ just because something awful has happened. The opportunity to truly assist Mr. Ibu is now.

“I have heard that the donations we made during the previous election have contributed approximately N6.5 billion to the Labour Party presidential confers. Use such money now is the time. We may use the EndSARS funds, which total roughly $500,000 USD, for worthwhile causes like this as well. Godspeed to everyone. Amen,” said Adeyanju.
