“The PDP finds it difficult to accept the death of the chairman, who was at his office and vivacious till the early morning hours. The fact that the party had to subject to the undeniable will of the all-powerful Allah, who gives and takes, made it quite unpleasant for us as a family.
“To lose Jimoh Oyekanmi was one engine room too many, to put it bluntly. He was a dedicated team member who never got tired of carrying out the tasks assigned to him.
The state working committee of our party, led by Hon. Sunday Bisi, hereby suspends all party activities for the ensuing three days, with party flags in the state flying at half-mast for the corresponding number of days, the party said.
Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, who was mourning the deceased council leader, called it heartbreaking.
Adeleke added that the state has been deprived of the assistance of a dependable person who might have provided effective governance.
In a statement released by the governor and signed by his spokeswoman, Olawale Rasheed, Alhaji Jimoh was described as a politician who always put the interests of all people above his own. Alhaji Jimoh displayed discipline and made unfathomable sacrifices during the fight to establish the Imole regime.
He had been a longtime heir to the Adeleke political family, but to me, he represented much more. No matter what the situation, he was more dependable and faithful to a fault.
It is difficult to ignore his influence on Osun politics, especially in Ede North, where he was a potent grassroots mobilizer for our wonderful party, the PDP. I lament the enormous loss of a man who has made so much to society and one of Ede town’s and the PDP’s finest.
I send my sincere condolences to his close family members, the residents of Ede North, the PDP family, and everyone else affected by his passing. I pray to Almighty Allah to console the victim’s family and friends and to give them the strength to endure the unrecoverable loss.
