Olawale Rasheed, the chief press secretary to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, reports that the governor and the leadership of the State House of Assembly have met to discuss the state’s name change from the State of Osun to Osun State.
Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday, Rasheed stated that the state’s executive and legislative branches get along well, but he insisted that Governor Adeleke’s executive order to change the state’s name back to Osun State is still in effect.
The connection between the legislative and executive branches is quite friendly, and the executive order regarding the State of Osun is very clear. The Speaker of the House and the state’s governor recently met.

“The dispute between Osun State and the State of Osun has been going on for a while; the matter is now in court, and we don’t want to become involved because we weren’t the ones who took the State Assembly there and got the ruling.
However, the State Assembly and the executive branch agree on practically all other matters as of right now, according to Rasheed.
Governor Adeleke ordered a reversal to Osun State from the State of Osun, which had been adopted by Rauf Aregbesola’s government, in his inauguration speech on Sunday.
The Osun Assembly, on the other hand, opposed the action hours later, insisting that the adoption of the “State of Osun” is “a matter of law.”
The House Committee on Media and Publicity Chairman Kunle Akande issued a statement on behalf of the Assembly stating, “The usage of the state anthem, crest, and flag is an enactment of the law and as such, its utilization is a matter of law and not choice.”
“There is no ambiguity in the legislation of the’state of Osun anthem, crest and flag law, 2012′ which was signed on December 18 and is included in Schedule I, II, III, IV, and V, which precisely specifies every provision of this law.
The State Anthem is Schedule I, the State Crest is Schedule II, and the Symbolic Value of the Elements of the Flag is Schedule III.
Finally, despite the fact that we are aware of a court decision officially recognizing ‘Osun State,’ the Assembly would not get involved in this issue until all legal options had been exhausted.
But the State will still be referred to be the “state of the righteous” (Ipinle Omoluabi).
