The Peoples Democratic Party’s Adeleke won the election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with 403,371 votes versus the incumbent Oyetola’s 375,027.

In the Election Petitions Tribunal, Oyetola and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), contested Adeleke’s election on the grounds that there were polling place irregularities.
On January 27, 2023, the former governor received some solace when Justice Tertse Kume, who wrote the majority opinion, overturned Adeleke’s victory and named Oyetola the election’s victor.
According to Justice Kume, Oyetola received 314,931 valid votes against Adeleke’s 290,266.
Not happy with the verdict Adeleke and the PDP went to the Court of Appeal in protest, and on March 24 the Court of Appeal overturned the tribunal’s decision and declared Adeleke the winner.
Oyetola and the PDP headed to the Supreme Court after being upset by the Appeal Court’s decision, which was heard on Monday and scheduled for judgment today (Tuesday).
The parties adopted their briefs and addressed the court on Monday, according to Channels Television, which broadcast the highest court panel’s meeting. The panel then declared Tuesday for decision.
However, in order to tighten their hold on the South-Western state, both the ruling PDP and the opposition APC are hoping that the nation’s top court will decide in their favor.
