Adegboruwa calls on youths to condense their protest into one day, believing it will strengthen their message.

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a lawyer representing certain organizers of the upcoming protest against hardship, has made an appeal to participants urging them to limit their demonstration to one day or at most three days.

From August 1 to 10, the #EndBadGovernance movement that is rapidly gaining support on social media will take place.

Ahead of the protest scheduled for Thursday, Adegboruwa released a statement on Wednesday urging participants to maintain orderliness and peace as they demonstrate in pre-designated areas communicated to the police.

He commended the bravery of the demonstrators and advocated for communication with government officials regarding their concerns. He suggested that the protest organizers establish separate teams to approach different members of the government in order to achieve prompt resolution.

According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, your voices have been heard loud and clear even by our ancestors in their resting places. The government’s frantic reactions since the protests were announced only serve as evidence of your campaign’s moral triumph and unwavering efforts.

Over the past few days, we have been focusing on promoting communication with law enforcement and security agencies. The fact that the Inspector-General of Police is insisting on “credible intelligence” regarding violent plans confirms that the government is desperate to end these protests by supporting mischievous individuals who seek to disrupt them; a situation currently happening in multiple areas throughout Lagos State.

In light of this, I urge that the demonstrations take place in a calm and peaceful manner at the predetermined locations communicated to law enforcement.

Furthermore, limit the duration of protests to a single day or at most three days and then halt. Communicate your requests to the governing body, permitting them an opportunity to act on those needs.

Without question, I believe you possess the ability to conduct the demonstrations as planned and that you are backed by most of our population in all your endeavors. However, let’s leave some space for further discussions. At any time, I am willing to participate alongside you in these talks.

He added that he appeals for the sake of promoting peace, advancing progress, and maintaining tranquility in our beloved country.

The Senior Advocate cautioned security agencies against the use of bullets, random arrests of citizens and military deployment.

The law acknowledges the entitlement to peaceful demonstrations, coupled with a requirement for police officers to safeguard unweaponized civilians during such gatherings. It’s imperative that there should be no shooting incident or unwarranted apprehension of individuals tomorrow and also an absence of military intervention in handling confrontations.

Our children and citizens are among the protesters who should never be subjected to bullets or crackdowns.

President Bola Tinubu and his team were advised by Adegboruwa to promptly undo the two policies of currency devaluation and oil subsidy elimination.

According to the senior lawyer, Nigeria’s policies have caused nothing but harm and led the country into its most severe economic turmoil.

He recommended to the President the immediate cessation of extravagance among government officials resulting from their opulent lifestyles.

The people are expected to suffer while the President buys a new jet and the Vice-President renovates his house with N21B. It’s hypocritical to expect others to tighten their belts while widening your own wealth and luxuries.

His question was, “Will President Tinubu put an end to all bad governance practices such as giving out billions for religious pilgrimages while only providing meager loans to students?”
