The African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) zonal leadership for the southeast praised on Friday the bravery of CP Danjuma Aboki, the newly appointed commissioner of police, in dealing ruthlessly with those who were pushing for a Monday sit-at-home in the region.

The party leadership expressed sorrow that the unlawful acts carried out by organisations advocating for Biafra separation in states inhabited by Igbo ethnic people had more negative effects than positive ones.

The remarks made by Chilos Godsent, the National Vice Chairman of the ADC, were sent to Obasanjo News24 on Friday.

The Southeast ADC chapter bemoaned the destruction caused by the IPOB’s Sit-at-home order, which was imposed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s leadership. The region has been plagued by wanton killings by armed men who go by unknown names, bandits, and kidnappers, especially in Imo state over the past three years.

In order to fully comprehend the origin, dynamics, trend, and trigger causes of the conflict, the party also demanded that the Imo State Police Commissioner perform a conflict analysis.

“We also recommend that the Commissioner of Police divide the security programme into three phases,” the zonal ADC leadership stated.

“The first stage should involve establishing sufficient security and fostering trust among banks, state and federal ministries, and private service providers in Owerri city so that they consistently operate on Mondays.

“Phase three is for the relevant authorities to deploy an adequate police intelligence and surveillance team to patrol all hot spots in the various communities in local government areas. Phase two is the provision of adequate security on the roads to enable motorists to ply the roads without attacks from bandits on Mondays,” the statement continued.

“To jointly develop a template on how to effectively combat the menace of insecurity in the state, CP Danjuma Aboki should convene an inclusive town hall brainstorming dialogue with Civil Society Organisations working in the area of security conflict Prevention, Resolution Management, and Peace-building in Imo State,” the ADC continued.
