Police in Adamawa have detained government officials and vigilantes involved in a theft ring. Learn more about the arrests and investigation.
On Saturday, the Adamawa State Police Command announced that it had successfully disrupted an organised criminal group that included vigilante members and employees of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).
The operation, according to Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, was carried out in response to a tip that sent a team of investigators scurrying into a warehouse in Limawa Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.

Eight suspects—three ADSEMA employees and five vigilante members—were taken into custody, and 98 bags containing guinea corn, millet and maize were found.
The offenders were apprehended in the act and ranged in age from 22 to 53. The Jimeta Police Station’s DPO and his crew were congratulated by Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris for their professional demeanour and quick response, which resulted in the arrests and the recovery of the stolen grains.
