A civil servant named Bala Musa was hauled before a magistrates’ court on Daura Road in Kaduna on Wednesday by Kannywood actress Hadiza Aliyu, better known as Hadiza Gabon, for claimed character libel.
The actress claimed that the defendant’s bogus accusations against her had caused her to face backlash from the public. She made this claim through her attorney, Mr. Mubarak Sani.
He continued by saying that claims that Aliyu was a liar and had refused to wed Musa after receiving his money had been made, particularly on social media, but that these claims had “proved to be false.”

The accusation was refuted by the defendant via Mr. Naira Murtala, his counsellor.
The complainant’s attorney responded in the yes when Chief Magistrate Shamsudeen Sulaiman asked if they had any witnesses.
In order to be granted bail, the accused had to provide two trustworthy sureties who had to be civil officials and citizens of Kaduna State, as stipulated by the Chief Magistrate.
He postponed the case until November 15 so that the complainant could call witnesses.
In Shari’a Court I, Magajin Gari, the defendant had filed a lawsuit against Aliyu in March 2022.
He said that after giving the actress N396,000, she had refused to wed him.
The actress then denied ever having known Musa, claiming she had never spoken to him, never met him, and had no contact at all.
The complainant’s attorney informed the Shari’a court that the money purportedly paid to the defendant was actually received by four different people after presenting a copy of the complainant’s bank statement.
Out of the four, two—Abdullahi Yusuf and Fatima Abdullahi—claimed to be the defendant’s personal aides and friends.
With a plea of guilty, they asked the judge to pardon them for posing as the actress and accepting money under her name.
Following Murtala’s repeated requests for the case to be transferred to an Upper Shari’a Court, Judge Isiyaku Abdulrahman dropped the case and released Aliyu on October 31.
He directed the defendant attorney and his client to reimburse the actress for the time she lost.
