Nigerian actor IK Ogbonna criticizes CAN for allowing ‘fake miracles.’ Explore his strong stance and the controversy it has stirred.
IK Ogbonna, a popular Nollywood actor, has criticized the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for not addressing the issue of purported “false miracles” in select churches.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Ogbonna expressed that utilizing God’s name for dishonesty is a violation of the gospel.
The actor urged the federal government and CAN to regulate and hold responsible those who disrespect Christian faith through social media trends, while also cautioning Christians against participating in such actions.
The sight of pastors feigning miracles to trick and take advantage of the vulnerable is truly heart-wrenching. Such behaviors mar Christianity’s authentic nature, morphing faith into a selfishly driven spectacle. The results? Betrayed trust, destroyed lives, and manipulation of faith for financial gain.

It’s time for pastors to take a moment and consider their actions carefully. Falsely invoking God’s name is a terrible betrayal of the gospel. Those who have been harmed should always remember that their faith is something precious, and genuine miracles cannot be achieved through deceitful means.
It is important to exercise caution and avoid being swept up by social media trends that mock or show disregard for our faith. We must remember that Christianity should not be exploited solely for the purpose of generating likes, views, or viral content.
“I urge the government and religious organizations such as CAN to take a proactive role in regulating and ensuring accountability for those who engage in fraudulent, manipulative or mocking practices. Let us uphold Christian values by safeguarding our faith’s integrity.”
After the controversial video surfaced featuring strange testimonies from members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, the actor made a post.
In the popular video, an elderly woman recounted being robbed by four men wielding weapons. However, to everyone’s surprise and amazement, she miraculously managed to disarm them after proclaiming herself as “chosen.”
Likewise, a different individual attested that he was saved from abductors by a lion which lifted him up and directed him to security.
The man asserted that he endured abductor, machete and gunshot assaults “without incurring any harm.”
