Mohammed Gumel, the commissioner of police in Kano, has received high commendation for his efficient management of the security situation in the state from ACP Daniel Itse Amah, the commanding officer of the 23 Police Mobile Force unit at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos.

Amah expressed his complete admiration for how problems that might have compromised security were effectively handled in an open letter to the commissioner of police that PlatinumPost was able to obtain on Thursday.

As stated in the letter: “My CP Sir,

I hope you are doing well and reading this. even though I

transfer to the State of Lagos I have closely monitored the security situation in Kano under your distinguished leadership ever since you took over the reins at the Kano State Police Command.

There were several difficulties in the state, especially with the “Yan dabba” operations. Your creative approaches, like setting up football games with the sorry Yan dabbas and starting tournaments with different stakeholders, have been essential in overcoming gaps and recovering the community’s confidence in the police.

Your deft handling of the tensions surrounding the general election in 2023, especially in light of the fierce political rivalry between the APC and NNPP, stands out as evidence of your unmatched ability. You owe a debt of gratitude to the state and to the entire country for maintaining peace during those unexpected times.

Your leadership exemplifies your profound passion, vision, and unwavering commitment to peace, especially in the wake of the tribunal judgement. Your actions not only respected the law but also allayed local residents’ and foreign observers’ worries.

I consider myself privileged to view you as both a mentor and a beacon as a younger officer still learning the nuances of this field. You bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, and I’m glad to say that working for you has been one of the highlights of my professional life. I’m eager to keep drawing from your great store of information.

Even if we don’t talk to each other as much as we used to, I still appreciate and admire your commitment to your leadership. I promise to be faithful to you and regret that we haven’t spoken to you more frequently.

Continue to soar and lead the way, Sir. The residents of Kano, as well as all of Nigeria, are fortunate to be under your care.
