On Friday, 42-year-old Chizoba Reuben appeared before an Ojo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State on charges of stealing an iron ball intended for a ship.
Stealing is the offence on which the defendant is being tried.
In front of Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni, he chose to enter a not guilty plea.
The defendant committed the act on September 5 at the Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, according to the prosecution, Dr. Simon Uche, who testified in court.
According to the prosecution, Mr. Gold Ugochukwu, the complainant, owned the iron ball, which was valued at N2.8 million.
Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015, which prohibits the claimed offence, is broken.
The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount by Layeni.
He put the trial on hold and postponed it until October 25.
