According to Peter Obi, youth unemployment is a major factor in North-East insecurity

According to Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, the North-East region’s high rate of youth unemployment is the main cause of insecurity there since thousands of young people there begin each day without access to food or housing.

This was said by Obi on Monday at a meeting in Abuja with several Northeast stakeholders.

He claims that the Northeast can both feed the nation and generate enough cash crops for export in addition to having a vast quantity of arable land.

If he wins the presidential election the next year, he promised that his administration will make that a reality.

When idle young participate in legitimate enterprises, such as agriculture and business, he claimed, insecurity would be a thing of the past and the nation will go from consumption to production.

“You have millions of young people in their productive years doing nothing and not knowing where their next meal will come from,” Obi added, noting that youth unemployment is close to 50%.
You will experience crises in that circumstances, including crises of insecurity, banditry, and kidnapping.

“The first thing I and Datti (Baba-Ahmed) are assuring you is that we have the best mix and experience to begin addressing the security issue, and I’ll repeat it: keep us accountable. No one should ever tell you that the problem of insecurity in Nigeria cannot be solved; it can be halted and resolved very rapidly.

“We want to reunite Nigeria and restore Nigerians’ pride in their nation. When you go from consumption to production, which is where Nigeria now is, you can begin lifting people out of poverty.
