The former Manchester United star thinks the Brazilian is miles ahead of his Ghanaian opponent.
Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United captain, says that Casemiro, the Red Devils’ defensive midfielder, is better than Thomas Partey, who plays for Arsenal.
Using statistics as a major differentiator between the key players, Ferdinand insisted that the Ghanaian is far behind the Brazilian.
Partey isn’t a strong enough defensive player, in my opinion, to play like Csemiro. He stated on a podcast, “I don’t think he has the impact defensively for Manchester United.”
“I believe their teams’ significance…
Both points of view are debatable. But when you look at Casemiro’s statistics, he disappears.
However, he feels that Partey has performed better for Arsenal by directing play and having an impact on the game upfield.
Ferdinand stated, “He is doing more for Arsenal on the ball, influencing play, and managing the tempo.”
Partey has participated in two fewer games than Casemiro, totaling 1304 minutes as opposed to 1594, per the sports statistics website fctables.
The website also shows that the former Atletico Madrid player averages five shots on goal, compared to four for the four-time Champions League winner.
The two of them each scored two goals.
On Saturday, Manchester United travels to the Emirates in an effort to catch up to the league-leading Arsenal.
