Sheeran expressed his admiration for Rihanna, describing her as a genre-less artist who has the ability to excel in any musical style.
When he wrote ‘Shape Of You,’ Sheeran revealed that he had Rihanna in mind as the ideal performer for the song.
Released on January 6, 2017, as one of the lead singles from Sheeran’s third studio album, ‘Divide,’ ‘Shape Of You’ went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
In addition to this revelation, Sheeran also disclosed that he had written Justin Bieber’s hit song, ‘Love Yourself.’
Interestingly, Sheeran mentioned that ‘Love Yourself’ had initially been rejected by several artists before Bieber recorded it.
