Accomplices arrested by police as new tenant absconds with four children in Umuahia
Unfortunately, on the same day, the new tenant made away with the four children.
“Police interaction with Mrs Ibe revealed that the tenant had moved in just three days before the incident and Mrs Ibe could not provide details such as the tenant’s name or GSM number.

According to the statement, “Mrs. Ifeanyi Udoma Ibe, a resident of Ubakala Street by Ossai Road, Umuahia, reported to the Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia on December 17, 2023, at approximately 0900Hrs, that she entrusted the care of four children, including two of hers and her neighbours’ namely:
According to the statement, “Mrs. Ifeanyi Udoma Ibe, a resident of Ubakala Street by Ossai Road, Umuahia, reported to the Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia on December 17, 2023, at approximately 0900Hrs, that she entrusted the care of four children, including two of hers and her neighbours’ namely:
Regretfully, the four kids were taken by the new tenant that same day.
“The tenant had only moved in three days prior to the incident, and Mrs. Ibe was unable to provide information such as the tenant’s name or GSM number,” according to police reports citing Mrs. Ibe’s statement.
“Anyone with pertinent information about the missing children should call the PPRO at 07059951536 or report to the closest police station.”
One day following the occurrence, Mrs. Ibe, the complainant, brought this report to the police’s attention.
“At this time, the police are looking for the children’s whereabouts and have arrested a few suspects connected to the unidentified tenant.”
The statement advised the public to report any such incidents in person at the Police station, but first they should phone the Police control room as soon as they became aware of them.
The PPRO stated that timely reporting of events will aid in prompt actions and provided the Abia State Police control room numbers, which are 08035415406, 08079210004, 08079210005, and 0807921000.
Similarly, the Abia State Police Command asked the public to remain watchful when juveniles are spotted with adult companions, cautioning parents not to commit their younger children to strangers.
In the statement, it was urged to “interview both the child and the accompanying person; if unsatisfied with explanations, involve the Police for necessary action.”
