Abuja: Two kidnapped sisters were successfully rescued – Police

Two kidnapped victims were successfully rescued by operatives of the FCT Police Command from the Asokoro Police Divisional Headquarters.

The kidnappers were trained at a checkpoint and a shootout ensued, resulting in the victims being abandoned.

The FCT Police Spokesperson confirmed the rescue, stating that it was a coordinated operation conducted in the early hours of January 31, 2024, at approximately 1:00 am.

The abduction of Sarah Hassan and Mrs Erima Bobo-John in the Kobi Community of Abuja was reported, prompting swift action from the Asokoro Divisional Headquarters.

The kidnappers were traced to the Nyanya/Keffi road, where they were intercepted by Nigerian Army operatives manning a checkpoint.

Upon spotting the Police operatives, the bandits immediately confronted them in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

However, they were ultimately overpowered by the superior firepower of the Police, compelling them to abandon their captives and hastily flee to safety within the nearby forest.

Fortunately, the victims have been successfully reunited with their families and were found to be unharmed.
