TChinaza Philip, a suspected Abuja kidnap kingpin who was apprehended by the police, has claimed that he is actually an armed robber and not a kidnapper.

On January 18, Philip was caught by agents from the Kawo divisional police station in Kaduna while he was transporting a kidnapped individual from Abuja to Kano.

The abducted person, Segun Akinyemi, was reportedly taken by Chinaza and his gang at the Area 3 axis of the city, but was later rescued by the police.

The next day, on January 19, Philip was handed over to the Abuja police command. During a parade of suspected criminals at the federal capital territory (FCT) police command, Philip spoke to reporters on Wednesday and stated that his expertise lies in stealing cars from people and selling them in Kano state.

He emphasized that he is not involved in kidnapping, but rather his gang only operates at night to steal cars.

Philip explained that their intention that night was to rob the man and take his car, but he was surprised when their leader, Yellow, instructed the man to enter the back of the car.

Philip admitted that he did not know the reason behind this instruction and could not argue with Yellow, so they were on their way to Kano when the police apprehended them in Kaduna and he was arrested.
