Abubakar-Albani and Nasir of the APC win the Basawa and Sabon Gari seats in Kaduna

Alhaji Jamilu Abubakar-Albani of the APC was named the victor of the election for the Basawa Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Sunday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The election’s returning officer, Prof. Mohammed Magaji Garba of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, declared the results in Zaria.

According to Garba, Abubakar-Albani defeated Muazu Danyaro of the PDP, who received 13, 066 votes, by receiving 15, 025 votes.

He stated that Iliyasu Garba of the Labour Party received 662 votes, while Hassan Ahmed of the NNPP garnered 2,336 votes to finish third.

The returning officer proclaimed APC candidate Jamilu Abubakar-Albani the winner and restored him to office after he met all legal conditions.

He revealed that although there are 77 361 registered voters in the constituency, only 32 405 of them registered to vote, with 31,517 legal ballots being recorded and 499 invalid votes.

In related news, Kaduna State’s Sabon Gari constituency election was won by Malam Idris Nasir of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with 25, 088 votes.

The election’s Returning Officer, Prof. Luscious Bamaiyi of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, declared the results on Sunday in Zaria.

According to Bamaiyi, Nasir triumphed after defeating Malam Ali-Baba Usman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 18, 469 votes and was his closest rival and the incumbent of the seat.

Aishatu Yusuf of the Labour Party received 1, 333 votes, while Lawal Mohammed of the NNPP received 4, 874 votes to finish third in the election, according to him.

The returning officer announced, “Idris Nasir is now pronounced victorious and returned elected, having met the requirements of law.
