During his speech at the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Abiy Ahmed emphasized the importance of robust intra-BRICS trade and investment across key sectors.

He described his country as having the third-largest economy in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Earlier this year, Ethiopia officially became a member of the group of emerging economies. It is among the newest members of the bloc.

The BRICS nations have demonstrated a strong commitment to realizing their vision of a multipolar world, thereby amplifying the influence of the Global South. Some members have even promoted the group as a counterweight to the Western-dominated global order.
