Chinwe Nwanganga, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), filed a petition against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and four other parties, but the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia has dismissed it.
A total of one million naira was consequently ordered to be paid to Nwanganga, who ran for office in the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency under the PDP, with each respondent receiving 200,000 naira.
After the election, Nwanganga went to court and pleaded for the disqualification of Ibe Michael Nwoke and Munachim Alozie, the candidates for the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Labour Party (LP), respectively, for not being a genuine member of their political organisations.
The PDP candidate, who, according to the INEC, finished third in the National Assembly election on February 25, is pleading with the court to declare him the election’s winner because he insists that he was the only genuine candidate to run.
But the court rejected his prayers because they were unworthy.
