A court in Abuja has approved bail for an Abia lawmaker facing allegations of assault against a Bolt driver, drawing attention to the ongoing legal proceedings.
A magistrate court in Kuje, Abuja, has granted bail to Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives. He was required to pay N500,000 following his arraignment for allegedly assaulting Stephen Abuwatseya, a Bolt driver.
Ikwechegh appeared in court on Wednesday to face a three-count charge, which includes assault and making threats to life. The case was filed by the office of the Inspector-General of Police.
The legislator denied the charges filed against him.
