Abia Community Reinstates Ban on Open Grazing of Cattle

The residents of Ibeku ancient Kingdom, Umuahia North LGA in Abia state have renewed their ban on open grazing of cattle on farmlands.

Jerry Onyemachi, the President General of Ibeku Egwu Asaa Development Association (IEADA), declared in Umuahia that although a renewal had been announced, open grazing is still prohibited.

Cattle owners, cattle rearers and their “collaborators” were warned by him to refrain from openly grazing their livestock on farmlands in Ibeku land.

Expressing concern over the impact of cattle in certain Ibeku communities, particularly Ajata Amuzu Ibeku, the President General instructed those who own these animals to promptly remove them.

The President General of IEADA stated that in any part of Ibeku land, disobedience to the anti-open grazing directive will not be accepted.
