Abia building collapse claims lives of 5 workers, bodies found

In Obingwu village, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State, rescuers have removed the bodies of five workers who perished at a building site.

When a three-story structure that was still under construction fell on top of the victims, they became trapped.

Officially, the cause of the building collapse remains unknown, although community sources have attributed the tragedy to the probable usage of inferior materials.

According to a second source, the majority of the deceased victims were workers for a contractor who were citizens of a West African nation.

We were unable to get in touch with the Abia State Ministry of Lands and Housing for comment on this issue.

Furthermore, the Abia State Police Command has not yet commented on the issue.
