Abdulmumin Jibrin emphasizes the importance of reconciling Kwankwaso and Ganduje to foster unity and address pressing political challenges in Kano State.

Abdulmumin Jibrin, the Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Habitat, has stressed the pressing need for reconciliation between former Kano State Governors Rabiu Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a radio interview in Kano on Thursday, Jibrin voiced his worries about the current conflict between two prominent political leaders, labeling it as unfortunate and damaging to the state.

He urged well-intentioned citizens to actively work towards reconciling the duo for the greater good of Kano’s development.

While discussing the achievements of both leaders, Kofa recognized their important contributions to public service. Kwankwaso’s career trajectory was particularly commended, as he advanced from a civil servant to become Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, served two terms as Governor, held the position of Minister of Defence, became a Senator, and also ran for president.

In a similar fashion, Ganduje, who has held multiple public positions such as Director in the Federal Capital Territory, commissioner, deputy governor, and two-term governor, is currently serving as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Not everyone is selected by God for these roles,” Kofa noted. “They have both been distinctively blessed, and it is our duty to reconcile them.”

Jibrin attributed the political challenges in Kano to the continuing tensions between the two leaders and encouraged their supporters to prioritize peace and unity.

“As Muslims, we are responsible for bringing reconciliation between them,” Kofa stated. “They were once strong allies who accomplished much together, and seeing their current state is both sad and regrettable. Now is the time to strive for peace, unity, and progress.”

In his plea, the legislator proposed that leaders should lead by example and attend each other’s family gatherings, despite any political differences. “Imagine Kwankwaso being present at Ganduje’s daughter’s wedding and Ganduje showing up for Kwankwaso’s son’s wedding. Politics is a choice they make; reconciliation is our responsibility.”

He ended with a prayer for those resisting the reconciliation effort, seeking Allah’s guidance to lead them toward the right path.
