Abductors of Medical Students Demand ₦50m Ransom, SUG Confirms

The abductors of over 20 medical students in Benue have demanded a ₦50 million ransom for their release, according to the Students’ Union Government (SUG). The incident has sparked widespread concern and calls for immediate action.

The kidnappers of the students from University of Jos’s College of Health Sciences in Plateau State have made contact with the families of their captives.

A ransom of ₦50 million has been demanded by the kidnappers to ensure that their captives are freed.

According to Adeniran Adebanjo, the spokesperson for the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at the university, communication has been made with relevant stakeholders including families of affected students, Dean of Students’ Affairs and Faculty of Clinical Science.

The statement indicated that ongoing efforts are being made, as the kidnappers have requested a ransom of 50 million naira for releasing the students.

On Thursday night, a group of thirteen students who were heading to the annual convention organized by the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students in Enugu fell victim to abduction while on their journey along Otukpo-Enugu Road.
