Politico spoke with a former California governor and Hollywood celebrity who expressed concern about the “age factor” in the upcoming presidential race.
Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has stated that voters are searching for “something new” in the White House and are naturally concerned about a rematch between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in 2024 because of their late age.
The Terminator movie star stated in an interview with Politico that the US needs “someone that has energy” because of the complexity of the issues the nation is now experiencing.
We require fresh blood. We need a new breed of leaders, I often say,” Schwarzenegger told the publication. “The age factor and the fact that none of them are perfect really are the reasons.”
In addition, Schwarzenegger bemoaned the media’s emphasis on Trump and Biden, claiming it prevents other possible contenders from having the opportunity to “make a name” for themselves.
“Everyone reports on Biden’s press conferences. Additionally, he claimed that “they cover up everything Trump does, even when he sneezes.”
When promoting a new audiobook about the 2003 California recall election—which he won—Schwarzenegger again brought up the age differences between Biden and Trump during his interview with Axios.
In the end, I believe that we require new leaders. They’re both faulty in my opinion, and I just believe that now is the time for visionaries and strong leaders rather than individuals who fiddle with small details,” he told Axios.

The actor-turned-politician declared to CNN’s Chris Wallace in June that, should he be permitted to run, he will seek the presidency on his own. Due to his Austrian birth, Arnold Schwarzenegger is not qualified to run for president. Wallace was informed by him that it was a “no-brainer” and that he could “see so clearly how I could win that election.”
Approximately 71% of participants in a recent New York Times/Siena College survey stated that Biden was too elderly to lead effectively. Biden, who turns 81 later this month, was the oldest president to take office when he was sworn in at age 78. The age of Trump is 77 now.
David Axelrod, the senior strategist for former US President Barack Obama’s political campaigns, said earlier this month that Biden ought to think twice before running for office in 2024 because of his “concern about the age issue,” saying the incumbent leader “needs to ponder.”
